This study aims to explain the model of “linguistic reverse engineering” within the epistemic architecture of the Qurʾān and to analyze the mechanism through which concepts are redefined in the revealed text within a semantic framework. The central research question investigates how the Qurʾān employs lexical items and concepts that were prevalent within the cultural and discursive context of Arab society at the time of revelation and subsequently places them within a newly configured semantic network that generates new layers of meaning. The theoretical framework of the study is based on the integration of two complementary approaches: historical semantics, which provides a diachronic analysis of the meanings of key terms prior to revelation, and relational semantics, which offers a synchronic analysis of the conceptual relations among those terms within the Qurʾānic text. The research adopts a qualitative methodology grounded in semantic analysis of Qurʾānic discourse. The corpus of the study consists of five short sūrahs of the Qurʾān—al Kawthar, al Masad, al Ikhlāṣ, al Falaq, and al Nās. In the first stage of the analysis, the pre Qurʾānic semantic background of key lexical items was reconstructed within the cultural and linguistic context of pre Islamic Arabia. In the second stage, the network of conceptual relations among these lexical items was examined within the semantic structure of the relevant verses. The findings indicate that the Qurʾān transforms concepts embedded in competing discourses through a three stage process consisting of conceptual reception, semantic reprocessing, and discursive reproduction. Through this process, the Qurʾānic text reconfigures inherited concepts and mobilizes them to articulate and reinforce the Qurʾānic monotheistic worldview. Accordingly, the model of linguistic reverse engineering demonstrates that the Qurʾānic text establishes a new epistemic system within the language of revelation by restructuring conceptual relations and reorganizing the semantic network of key terms.
